Are you a fan of NBC's The Office?
If so, you may have caught last week's episode, where Michael (the hilarious John Krasinski) has trouble accepting the 'new' ways of doing business in the paper supply industry. He believes in winning back old clients the old-fashioned way...by showering them with food gift baskets and an emphasis on a personal business relationship.
But a former temp promoted above Michael introduces a state-of-the-art website and an automated transaction process that minimizes errors even while keeping customers at arm's length. Change doesn't come easily to Michael, and he laments the depersonalization of business, even while his own approach fails.
I'm guessing Michael will have a chance to appreciate the environmental benefits of a paperless office in coming episodes.
That's because NBC will begin one week of green-themed programming starting November 4 to educate, entertain and promote eco-friendly living on all of its prime-time shows. Can't wait to see what those zany folks at The Office do with it.
